Description
Rixwell Hotel Konventa Sēta is located in the historic center of Riga (Old Town) on Kaleju Street 9/11. Near the hotel are all the most popular tourist attractions as well as shopping and business centers. It is suitable for business people, tourists and families with children. The complex of 7 buildings (schematic plan) in which the hotel is located is a national architectural monument in one of the oldest districts of Riga. Originally, Convent Yard was a castle belonging to the Order of the Sword Brothers, built in the 13th century and destroyed during the Civil War by Livonia. Later, in 1297, in the 13th century, the Monastery of the Holy Spirit was housed in this area. At the end of the 17th century, the passage of the Holy Spirit was introduced between Kaleju Street and Skarnu Street. In the 18th and 19th centuries several warehouses were built here. The St. George's Church - the chapel of the castle, which belonged to the Order of the Sword Brothers - was preserved. In the 1990s, extensive renovations were carried out and the Konventa Sēta hotel opened.
